What you’ll need to hire from SVR

Registration & Proof of Identity Requirements

  • 3x forms of ID are required: one must be your photo card driving licence,  and 2x proof of address within last 3 months. Passport is required if hiring from outside of the UK.


Visit the DVLA website or call DVLA on 0300 083 0013 to obtain you code, which will then be valid for 21 days.

Rental Requirements

  • Fulfil all registration and proof of identity requirements.
  • You must have been driving for at least 2 years.
  • Driver age minimums vary. Please contact for more information.
  • You must have no major convictions on the driving license.


If you have more than 6 points or points for any non minor offences, please call your local branch to check that we can cover you on our insurance – points may need to be referred to the insurance & may increase the insurance excess or in some circumstances prevent the hire.
